Body & Soul on Sixth Avenue
Saturday, October 31, from 7 pm · Sixth Avenue, Canal Street to 15th Street
It's Halloween night and Sixth Avenue belongs to the costumes. At 7 pm the 53rd Village Halloween Parade steps off from Canal Street, and you are in it.
This year the theme is Body & Soul: a night for getting back into your body, through costume, music and dance, after a year spent living on screens.
Out in front, Firehorse! rears up over the crowd, a new puppet procession by Basil Twist with choreography by Julie Atlas Muz. Joey Arias rides as Grand Marshal, and behind him the avenue fills with masks, wings, drums and strangers who feel like friends by 14th Street.
The parade runs north all the way to 15th Street. If you would rather watch from the sofa, Spectrum News NY1 carries it live from 8 pm. But this is a night to be out in it.
Tell Theins where you want to be standing, or where you want to eat after, and it will take care of the rest.
